REVIEW : Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick

Before I get onto the whole Jeffree Star make up review/beauty thing, this picture is my first proper blogging image attempt and I’m actually kinda super pleased with it myself. Yay! Anyway… moving on swiftly…

Recently I lost my all time favourite lipstick from New Look in the shade ‘dark brown’ (although the colour is more like a purple brown), and because they’ve changed their make up section the colour doesn’t exist anymore *sob sob*. However thankfully a random beauty guru on twitter posted a picture of her wearing it, and I had to ask her where it was from. It was the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in ‘Sagittarius‘.

Not only is this the first piece I bought from Jeffree Star, but it’s also the first liquid lipstick I’ve ever bought. So with this in mind, here are my pros + cons for this product:

Pros:

  • The colour is beautiful. People will definitely know you’re wearing the lipstick however it’s still got a subtle tone to it.
  • It lasts a long, long time. I don’t know a lipstick that will last me all day, however I went from 7am to 2pm without having to reapply once. Seven hours is quite a decent amount of time, lets be honest! That was with me eating breakfast and snacks.

Cons:

  •  It does feel quite drying. I know that’s (kind of) the point of a liquid lipstick, but it’s still going to be a con. Saying that, I’m not exactly the best at doing skin care routines so my lips are probably not in the best condition at the moment.

Over all I definitely think this product is worth getting. I’m so tempted to get 2390843432 more colours, however I need to save me some moneys for now. Have you tried any Jeffree Star products? Any that you recommend or any that you would like to try?

I really want to try Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks. I have my eye on so many shades! Try a Lush lip scrub before you apply it, it might help with the dry feeling 🙂

This is such a beautiful shade! On Monday night I ordered rode matters, unicorn blood and redrum and I can’t wait to use them! If you use a lip balm underneath the Jeffree star liquid lipsticks they aren’t as drying on your lips, the colour still stays perfectly but it’s less harsh on your lips x

That looks like such a lovely shade, I am really not brave with lip colours though and wouldn’t like the drying feeling of a liquid lipstick lol I am so fussy. Great photo by the way!! xxxxx

Such a lovely picture, you should be pleased with yourself! It’s good this lasts a long time, I can never be bothered with reapplying lipstick too often so long lasting is essential for me!

I have a couple of the Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks but I find that the formula does differ a little with each shade? Anyway, fab review and I absolutely love the photo you took! <3

I’ve heard sooo much about Jeffree Starr (especially with the whole social media war with Kat Von D!) but I have never tried his products! The colour does indeed look lovely, I’d really like to see some swatches of it! I’m amazed at the longevity as well, it must be great to go out all day and not have to worry about topping up your lippie! Thanks for sharing this, a really great review as always!

Really interesting review. I’ve heard so many mixed reviews of J*’ as a brand and person so it’s nice to sort of strip all of that back and JUST think about the product for once. It’s quite tempting to get one myself, I’ve heard the highlighters are to die for!!! Great post xxx

I’m so sorry your old shade is out and no longer exists! I always hate when that happens. This color looks fabulous though and it’s good to know that it does last a while! That always comes in handy. (:

I’m really intrigued by Jeffree Star products but he’s such a controversial figure and he comes off as a bit of a knob! Saying that though I suppose that doesn’t affect his products 😛 this shade looks lovely – really good review! I’m not sure how I feel about liquid lipsticks and I have the same issue – my lips are always dry and I’m sure it’s because I’m not an angel when it comes to my skincare!

Great review! I have not tried any Jeffree Star products but this one sounds really good. And 7 hours is impressive for a lipstick, mine usually don’t last that long. A lipstick that lasts all day would be the dream xx

The picture is amazing, you should be proud! I find them slightly drying but compared to kylie jenners they’re leagues better. Also, it stays on so so long gosh never worn a lipstick that stays on for long. I do you find that when you apply it and put your lips together it goes quite thin meaning I have to apply it two times x
