Christmas goes two ways for me. I love the run up for Christmas… I love the Christmas town lights, the Christmas shopping for people you love and knowing they’ll love it when they open the presents up, however the Christmas day itself I tend to find quite boring until the delicious food and the fun family games.
1. Christmas dinner.
We’ve been known to not go for the ‘usual meats’ such as turkey. The last two years we’ve had wild boar, however they overcooked it last year so I’ve convinced them to go for mutton this year. I love most things about a ‘roast dinner’ anyway, so it will always be a winner for me.
Brussel sprouts are a no go for me though. #controversial
Now this is probably my all time favourite part of Christmas. I love a good game of Charades at Christmas (a lot more than the rest of the family it seems), as well as Articulate, which the family tends to be a little more into. I have also asked my boyfriend to buy Cards Against Humanity which I’m looking forward to because I’ve never played it before.
3. Mulled Cider
See.. I usually don’t like drinking at Christmas, I’m not really sure why. Although this year I’m traveling to my boyfriends on Boxing Day so would prefer not to go hungover.
Theres this pub in my town, The One Elm, which made the best MULLED CIDER EVEEEER. So the last two years I’ve made my brother make me some. I’m so excited for him to bring it down on Christmas eve.
It may sound rude, but getting given ‘items’ that you don’t have to pay for is always going to be a winner. I’ve been shopping with my mum to buy my Christmas presents and I’m being given a shirt for £70 (I would never buy it myself for that price, but because its mum and dads money, ey-up why not!), I will treasure the item forever… until I accidentally rip it or something…
5. A Muppet Christmas Carol
I don’t particularly love Christmas films, I know I’m such a bore. However my dad absolutely loves The Muppet Christmas Carol. I didn’t really love this film either, and its only in the last couple of years I’ve been into it. Its become a tradition so you HAVE to learn to like it. It gives me good feels now.
